  • Disable the Windows Defender

  • Check that the file isn’t blocked
  • Turn on Game Mode

Add the file or folder to exclusion
In case the game file you’re encountering the problem with is found faulty in the Windows Defender scan, then you won’t be able to install or use it until adding to the exclusion. This is the simplest way to deal with such problems. Because Windows Defender doesn’t scan the file or folder added to the exclusion list. Here is how to add a file to exclusion.
  1. Go to the ‘Settings’ of your system.
  2. Click on ‘Update & Security.’
  3. Now, click on ‘Windows Security’ on the left-hand side menu. This will open the options for Windows Security in the right-hand side box.
  4. Click on the ‘Open Windows Defender Security Center.’ It will be the first button on the right-hand side box.
  5. Now, click on ‘Virus & threat protection’ on the left-hand side menu.
  6. Then, go to the ‘Exclusions’ section in the right-hand box. You’ll get it at the bottom.
  7. Click on the blue ‘Add or remove exclusions’ text in the Exclusions section.
  8. Select ‘Add an exclusion.’
  9. Now, select the folder of the game closing by Windows Defender.
  10. ‘Exclude this folder.’
Your selected folder will be added to the exclusion list, and now not be monitored by Windows Defender. After doing this, you can try running your game.
Disable the Windows Defender
For the protection of the device, Windows Defender antivirus is enabled by default in every Windows computer. But, you can disable or enable it anytime you want in your system. If the problem isn’t fixed even after adding the game file to the exclusion list, then you can disable Windows Defender temporarily (from Settings) or permanently (from Registry) on your computer. Here is how to disable Windows Defender temporarily.
  1. Open ‘Local Group Policy Editor’ by searching for ‘gpedit.msc’ in the Start.
  2. Open the ‘Windows Defender’ folder by using the following path.
  3. Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Defender
  4. Now, look for the ‘Turn Off Windows Defender’ option under the right side box and click on it twice.
  5. Click ‘Disabled’ in the Turn Off Windows Defender window.
  6. Click ‘Apply’ and then hit ‘OK.’
You shouldn’t leave your device unprotected, try running your game and revert the changes as soon as possible.
Disable the Real-time protection
If you don’t want to disable the Windows Defender antivirus permanently, then you also have the option to disable it temporarily by turning off Real-time protection. Here is how.
  1. Go to the ‘Settings’ of your system.
  2. Click on ‘Update & Security.’
  3. Now, click on ‘Windows Security’ on the left-hand side menu.
  4. Go to ‘Virus & threat protection.’
  5. Then, click on ‘Virus & threat protection’ in the side menu.
  6. Select ‘Virus & threat protection settings.’
  7. Click the toggle switch of ‘Real-Time protection’ and turn it off.
Now, you can close settings and would be able to enjoy your game.
Check that the file isn’t blocked
Sometimes, Windows Defender antivirus blocks certain games and apps and prevent them from running. You can check whether your game is not blocked. If it is, then you’ll need to unblock it to run.
  1. Right-click on the ‘Game’ icon having the issue.
  2. Select ‘Properties’ on the menu.
  3. Look if you see the ‘Unblock’ option at the lower side of the properties window.
  4. Click on ‘Unblock’ if it appears.
  5. Click ‘Apply’ and then hit ‘OK.’
Once you unblock the game, you should be able to play it without any issue.
Turn on Game Mode
Game Mode in Windows 10 helps the game run better on your PC. You can try enabling it on your computer; it might help you to overcome this problem. Here is how to turn on the game mode.
  1. Go to the ‘Settings’ of your system.
  2. Click on ‘Gaming.’
  3. Click on ‘Game Mode’ on the left-hand side menu.
  4. Now, you’ll get the option to enable Game Mode on your PC.
After enabling the Game Mode, try launching your game. This will also give you better gaming experience.
